Located in Lambertville, NJ, this addition needed to be sympathetic to the heritage character of the home. The original structure boasts a Mansard roof with highly decorative cornice elements and beautiful dormers. Our addition contains similar transitional Mansard pitches and dormers with simplified modern trim features. This conforms neatly to the heritage principle of designing in a sympathetic relationship to the historic structure while not fooling the observer into thinking the new design is a portion of the original. In the interior photos you can see the Mansard roof-line above the upper cabinets creating an interesting soffit line.
